I just wrote a guest blog post for The Man Registry about the engagement ring trends for 2011. Media such as the television show Mad Men are inspiring classic designs while the royal engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton are bringing the beauty of colored gem stones into pop culture. Have a look at my full post over at The Man Registry.
I'm extremely happy to bring you my first blog post on QVC.com as their new Style Editor. It is my hope with this post to open up a conversation between myself and visitors to the site. My 2011 Trend Report received over 11,000 viewers and lots of comments -- That's incredible! In my latest post, I discuss the terminology of trends and explain terms like, "New Retro." Have a look and let me know what you think in the comments section on the QVC site.
National Jeweler asked me to give some thoughts on the jewelry fashion trends at the SAG awards. You can check out their full article on their website along with some great photos of celebrity fashion.
I saw a great mix of white diamonds and colored gemstones. Many of Hollywood's brightest stars opted for large drop earrings and additional accent pieces like pins worn at waist or in a hairstyle. This year, it looks like everyone hit the mark as I didn't really see any missteps on the jewelry scene.
I wrote a guest blog post for The Man Registry about wedding anniversary gift ideas for men. We often focus on the gifts for women on this occasion but more and more, people are asking me about gifts for the husband. Check out the article where I talk about cufflinks and other pieces, especially those in platinum, that can make great gifts for your anniversary.
Just a picture of me and the ladies from Hot In Cleveland. This was taken at one of the Golden Globe parties recently.
TheInsideSource.com posted my thoughts and predictions on red carpet trends for 2011's Golden Globe Awards show. Check out an excerpt below or read the full article in the link.
Advising Amy Adams, Eva Longoria, Kate Flannery, and Randy Jackson about red carpet jewelry is all in a day's work for celebrity style expert Michael O’Connor. If Michael O'Connor looks familiar, you may have seen him covering the Academy Awards red carpet for TV Guide TV or caught his fashion segments for MTV and E!
The Inside Source caught up with Michael O’Connor at StyleLab’s Golden Globes Jewelry Suite, an only-in-Hollywood destination where top celebrities and celebrity stylists can borrow their choice from a total of $14m worth of red carpet jewelry.
With the Golden Globes behind us and several awards shows still ahead, we asked celebrity style expert Michael O'Connor what fashion jewelry trends we can expect to see glimmering on our screens.
“I always view clothing as the wrapping for a beautiful present, but the jewelry is the ribbon. You need to have that kind of sparkle,” explained Michael O’Connor. “This season, the red carpet is influenced by a couple of things. Number one: fashion designers are doing a lot of color, so jewelry designers are starting to add more colored diamonds and unusual colored gem stones.”

From Reelzchannel a great sit down with Sue Wong and I discussing Golden Globes fashion for 2011.
The Examiner put up some great coverage of Style Lab's 2011 Golden Globe jewelry suite. Have a look at the full article on their website or read an excerpt below.
The 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards brought Hollywood’s brightest and most talented stars together for one magical night of accolades, amazing fashion and gorgeous Platinum pieces.
The 2011 Golden Globes was the talk of the town regarding who won and who wore what. One general theme that stood out was that the stars turned to Platinum as their jewelry of choice to sparkle on the red carpet. Celebrities ranging from young Hollywood starlets like Natalie Portman, Camilla Belle, and Michelle Williams as well as Hollywood vets like Annette Bening, Hellen Mirren, Julianna Margulies and Edie Falco sparkled and stole the spotlight all in Platinum.
Celebrity stylist Michael O’Connor gave me a sneak peak prior to the Golden Globes to give me insider access as to what pieces the celebs would be wearing at StyleLab's Golden Globes Jewelry Suite. As Michael pointed out, the red carpet jewelry trends this year were color and larger yet interesting pieces, “big is in.” One popular designer that was a hit at the StyleLab jewelry lounge was Georland, a European designer that’s “fairly new to the United States, originally from Europe but does really, really interesting, beautiful precious and semi-precious color also with a little bit of a whimsical feel.” My fave picks were Georland’s frog ring and brooch as well as the collection of hoop earrings in pink, blue or yellow sapphire. As for the larger pieces that made a statement, Beverly Hills designer, Dena Kemp’s beautiful cuff bracelet stood out for its larger proportion and intricate details.
Amanda Luttrell Garrigus gave us some great coverage on Flare.com as part of their 2011 Golden Globes coverage.
A high charged energy was palpable at gifting suites and showrooms today. After all it's crunch time, and if you haven't secured the look of your dreams, or at least an acceptable substitute for Sunday night, you've got some work to do. The Office actress, Kate Flannery, was at StyleLab's Golden Globes Jewelry Suite at the Four Seasons Hotel, and surveyed some platinum pieces before taking a shine to a diamond bracelet from Georland. Minnie Driver, who isn't nominated, but will be attending the awards show, picked up a platinum, diamond and ruby ring by Shaftel Diamond Co., as well as a 14 carat diamond bracelet by Dena Kemp. Just a stone's throw away at the GBK Golden Globes Lounge at the London West Hollywood hotel, 90210 star AnnaLynne McCord, who will likely attend some Globes after parties, went bonkers for footwear brand Ron White Signature. McCord threw off the shoes she wore in the door in favor of the Canadian-designed platforms. Jennifer Love Hewitt, nominee for Best Performance by an Actress for her role in the television movie The Client List, was there too and snagged some swimwear. Wait, swimwear? Well, it didn't always make sense, but what the heck, it's all part of the fun of Golden Globes week.
